Danny Boyle named Best Director at DGA's

British helmer Danny Boyle was named Best Director at this past weekend's Directors Guild of America awards in Los Angeles. The Slumdog Millionaire director beat off competition from David Fincher ("The Curious Case of Benjamin Button"), Gus Van Sant ("Milk"), Christopher Nolan ("The Dark Knight") and Ron Howard ("Frost/Nixon").

Blindness US details!

Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment have announced the Region 1 DVD release of Blindness on 10th February 2009 priced at $29.99 SRP. When a sudden, inexplicable epidemic of blindness sweeps a major city, health authorities round up the victims and quarantine them in Blindness, an apocalyptic thriller from director Fernando Meirelles. The wife (Julianne Moore) of an afflicted doctor (Mark Ruffalo) feigns blindness in order to accompany her husband into internment and finds that fear and brutality have infected the closed community. An all out war erupts between inmates as criminals and the physically powerful prey upon the weak over food and other necessities. As the sole sighted inmate, The Doctor’s Wife is the only one who can put a stop to the violence, but saving her loved ones may mean sinking to the level of the worst of her adversaries.

Michelle Pfeiffer is Cheri!

No, not Cherie Blair, now that would be a horror movie! Nope this will be an adaptation of the 1920s novel by French author Colette about the lingering effects of a romance between a middle-aged woman and a wealthy young man. Colette set her book in 1920s Paris, where the young son of a wealthy courtesan is educated in the ways of love by a middle-aged friend of the man's mother. When he is forced to give up the six-year relationship after marrying someone else, the young man can't forget her and retreats into a fantasy world.
