Paramount Home Entertainment have announced a UK DVD release date of 29th May for a Buller....Bueller...edition of the classic Ferris Bueller's Day Off!
From 80s Brat Pack director, John Hughes (Planes, Trains & Automobiles, The Breakfast Club, Pretty in Pink) comes the special edition of the cult 80s movie, FERRIS BUELLER’S DAY OFF. Written in just six days by Hughes, the film stars Matthew Broderick (Golden Globe nominated for his performance) as the perennial truant, Ferris Bueller, who takes a very memorable day off from school.
High schooler Ferris, his girlfriend Sloane (Mia Sara), and his best bud Cameron (Alan Ruck) are off on a spontaneous romp through Chicago after faking a series of excuses to get each other out of school for the day. Meanwhile the principal Ed Rooney (Jeffrey Jones), who knows of Ferris' devious ways, is nasty and scheming as he investigates Ferris’ absence and is foiled at every turn.
Ferris' jealous sister Jeanie (Jennifer Grey) has a few adventures of her own when she ends up meeting a leather-jacketed bad boy (played by Charlie Sheen) in the police station and makes out with him in front of her mother! So barf up a lung, forge a ‘sick note’ from the parents and tag along on the funniest adventure to ever sweep through the Windy City.
This film is filled with hilarity from beginning to end – from Ferris singing Twist & Shout onboard a float during a Chicago parade, to the mechanics at the parking garage burning rubber around town in Cameron’s Dad’s ‘borrowed’ Ferrari, the jokes just keep on coming. Twist & Shout incidentally hit the top ten singles chart in America over twenty years after its original release due to its inclusion in the film.
Though a single disc, this Special Edition is packed full of bonus material, giving audiences an insider peek at this riotous comedy hit. From a great ‘Making Of…’ documentary to the hilarious ‘The World According to Ben Stein’ (who plays the enthusiastic economics teacher “anybody… anybody?”) this DVD really is one to collect and keep. Wait a minute… what are you still doing here? Go Save Ferris!
