The following press release for Cinema 16: American Short Films has just been received:

The critically acclaimed Cinema16 series continues with American Short Films, which will be released on DVD in the UK on 5th June 2006. Amongst the A-list directors confirmed are George Lucas, Tim Burton, Alexander Payne, Todd Solondz, Gus van Sant, Mike Mills, Andy Warhol and DA Pennebaker.

The 16 films include: Gus Van Sant's 1982 adaptation of a William S. Burroughs short story, The Discipline of DE; Tim Burton’s early stop motion animated classic Vincent; George Lucas’ USC short Freiheit; Alexander Payne’s previously unreleased UCLA graduation short Carmen; D.A. Pennebaker’s Duke Ellington scored Daybreak Express; Todd Solondz’ NYU short Feelings; along with Oscar winner The Lunch Date by Adam Davidson, Stefan Nadelman’s multi-award winning documentary Terminal Bar, Joe Nussbaum’s cult classic George Lucas in Love, this year’s Sundance winner The Wraith of Cobble Hill by Adam Parrish King and Paperboys by Mike Mills.


With such heavyweeight names and with those names doing commentaries, surely this is a must for real film fans, and cinema students the world over?
