I never, ever, thought this would happen. A friend calls and asks me “what did you do this weekend?” Answering honestly, I replied, “I watched ‘What I Like About You’ Season One.” Here is the transcript from the rest of that conversation.

-“…”
-“hello?”
-“…dude, what?”
-“Yeah, I reviewed the old WB show staring what’s-her-name from ‘90201’ and Amanda Bynes. The show went on for 4 seasons and the wait is finally over because the complete first season has finally been released on DVD.”
-“The wait!? Greg, you are aware that the NBA finals are on this weekend.”
-“I know but, you see, in the pilot, Holly convinces her dad to let her move in with her sister in a ‘Friends’-like apartment and after hearing the good news she falls off the bed all Lucy like and is all ‘hey what’s MY bra doing under here?’ then lifts up this giant thing and says ‘oh, that’s not MY bra’ before moving to the big city with…”
-“Enough, please, I can’t take it.”
-“You don’t want to hear about Holly’s crush on an animal rights activist who leaves a ‘liberated’ parrot at her place?”
-“Hell no!”
-“But pratfall hilarity ensues. And what about when Holly ‘borrows’ Val’s car? More hilarity ensues. Or when Holly plays match-maker and...”
-“Yeah, hilarity ensues. Are you telling me you like this crap show?”
-“As WB shows go, it’s a step above ‘Reba’ and a step below ‘Homeboys From Outer Space.’ Ah, those homeboys, good times….
-“Snap out of it.”
-“Oh, and Amanda Bynes. I’m not saying she’s hot or anything cuz she was underage when the first season aired in 2002, and she really can’t act, but…”
-“Say no more. Don’t tell anybody but I watched ‘What a Girl Wants’ last night on cable. So, um, how does the series turn out?”
-“I can’t spoil the surprise but it’s more earth shattering than the season ender of ‘Lost.’”
-“Are there any extra features?”
-“Yeah, a Gag Reel with Jennie Garth, Amanda Bynes and their male friends… ew, that came out wrong.”
-“I bet that’s what they said too, ha, ha! You know, that’s probably funnier than anything from the show.”
-“Actually, it is.”
-“So can I come over and watch it?”
