Heere's Johnny DVD Review:
How does one adequately cover and commemorate The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson with its some 25,000 plus guests and 4,500 shows that spans over 30 years? With this box set, the Heeere’s Johnny: The Definitive DVD Collection from the Tonight Show. The box set opens like the famed Johnny Carson rainbow curtains to reveal four more sets of DVDs. Once inside this 12 DVD, box set with over 18 hours of entertainment, it is immediately apparent why they are calling this the definitive collection. There just is not anything else that can compare.
The first box set is the six-disc set titled Timeless Moments made up of some of the most hilarious Johnny Carson moments that occurred over the years. Disc one begins with a man from South Carolina that makes jewelry from quail droppings. There is a humorous rendition of “This is Your Life” with Burt Reynolds featuring a guest appearance with Dom Delouise who plays his ‘man Friday’ Ivar who reveals personal insights into Burt’s life. Other guests include Garry Shandling, Super Dave Osbourne, an accident-prone musician who tells stories of acrobatic and tight rope walking accidents, as well as so many others and of course the occasional visit from “The Great Carnac.”

Heere’s Johnny: The Definitive DVD Collection from the Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson is undeniably the best collection of Johnny Carson moments from his 30 years as host of the tonight show. The only thing that could possibly be better would be to have all 4,500 near hour-long episodes on DVD and would be almost ridiculous. Whether they are seeing it for the first time, or watched when it originally aired, fans young and old will enjoy the hours of entertainment that this box set has to offer. The DVDs are each cleverly organized with care, and include DVD extras whenever possible. Johnny Carson was the king of late night, and this box set is true to that reputation.
