Bachelor Party 2: The Last Temptation (2008) Synopsis:

A newly engaged man is taken to Miami for one last memorable weekend as a single man.

Bachelor Party 2: The Last Temptation (2008) DVD Review:

Bachelor Party 2: The Last Temptation is a sequel to the cult classic 1984 film Bachelor Party starring Tom Hanks and Tawny Kitaen.

Ron, (Josh Cooke) knows that he is meant to be with Melinda, (Sara Foster, The Big Bounce, D.E.B.S.) despite the fact that they have only been together for 2 months, Ron is ready to propose. Things do not go so well at the proposal when his stoner friend/waiter gives the wrong table the desert with Ron’s grandmother’s ring inside. Ron ends up having to take on a stubborn, heavy-set woman who has waited for 17 years for her boyfriend to finally propose. Things escalate out of control quickly but finally a handcuff clad Ron is able to pop the question.

Ron is a hit with Melinda’s parents, especially with her father, who is an investment magnate. Their reaction to Ron is a cause for concern for his soon to be brother-in-law, Todd. Todd is married to Melinda’s homely older sister in an attempt to ingratiate him into the family and eventually the family business.

Todd decides the only way to rid himself of this problem is to break up Ron and Melinda. The only way to do that is to throw Ron the best bachelor party ever, in hopes of luring Ron into the trap of cheating on Melinda. Todd invites Ron to Florida to stay in the presidential suite stockpiled with liquor and nubile German models, all on the company dime. Along for the ride are Ron’s loser friends, including Derek (Harland Williams, Rocketman, Sorority Boys), a bitter divorcee hell bent on stopping Ron from making the same mistake he has made three times. Also included is Jason (Greg Pitts, Office Space), the loveable loser who pockets food from the buffets because he cannot afford food, and Seth (Danny Jacobs), the stereotypical clumsy, allergic to everything geek.

The problem with Bachelor Party 2: The Last Temptation is that it simply does not compare to the 1984 release of Bachelor Party. The plot line is similar sure, but Bachelor Party 2 is simply put, way too tame to live up to its raunchy and raucous big brother. Compared to the near NC-17 release of Bachelor Party, which included hookers, a donkey show, and more drugs than a rock star’s dressing room, Bachelor Party 2 should be rated PG-13. Even in the UNRATED DVD release of film is mild by comparison. Had the filmmakers not tried to live up to the expectation of the Bachelor Party franchise, instead naming it something like Ron’s Last Hurrah or the like and edited the film for a PG-13 rating, the film would make a somewhat predictable, but very cute romantic comedy. Instead, immature filmmakers decided that the only way to sell a comedy is to laden it with topless women and rest it on the laurels of a film 23 years its senior, and the film is the weaker for it.

Bachelor Party 2: The Last Temptation is presented in Widescreen with a 5.1 surround sound track. The DVD includes several special features such as a gag reel, deleted scenes, audio commentary with director and cast, Analysis of a Stripper Fight featurette and The Party Never Stops – The Making of Bachelor Party 2 featurette.
