Senior Skip Day (2008) Synopsis:

Adam, tired of being the good student at school, decides that he is going to throw the ultimate senior skip day party. The only problem is his tight-wad principal, Mr. Dickwalder, who will go to great lengths to stop the shenanigans.

Senior Skip Day (2008) DVD Review:

Senior Skip Day is a juvenile, tiresome waste of time that offers nothing in the way of humor or entertainment. You can predict the entire story from the premise. Everything in this movie from the performances to the plot points come off as completely fake. This film was a waste time and money, which is a shame seeing as it had some experienced comedic talent involved.

The story is basically an MTV version of Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, complete with the asides to the camera and the overly involved principal. Adam, usually too much of a brown-noser to skip school, decides that if he wants to get the girl of his dreams, he will have to throw the senior skip day party. With help from his two best buddies and a random stranger, Adam is able to get a hold of some kegs a couple of supermodels, and a gigantic bong. In no time, the entire senior class is partying at his house complete with bathing suits and red plastic cups. To his disappointment, the girl he has his eyes on, Cara, shows up with her boyfriend. As you may have guessed, Cara soon finds out that Adam is a charming geek who has some good qualities as well.

While this is going on, Principal Dickwalder is on a hunt to snuff out this party. He goes from ethnically stereotypical household to ethnically stereotypical household being beaten up for naively assuming that every place is a senior party site. He eventually reaches Adam’s house, only to encounter Adam’s mother covering for him. However, Dickwalder is determined and soon breaks up the senior party. Adam achieves his ultimate goal, though, and convinces Cara that she is much better off with him.

Every character in this film is a stereotype. It is extremely simplistic and stupid in its racism. Norm MacDonald has nothing to do in this film and should have passed the job onto another actor. Larry Miller has also fallen a long way from his roles in Christopher Guest films. Gary Lundy is not at all charming as Adam. Overall, the performances are just phoned in. But great acting could not have saved this film, if you could even call it a film. The basic story outline is trite and predictable. The plot details are just ridiculous and the whole script feels like it was written as a teen movie exercise. There is nothing redeeming about this movie. None of the characters are three-dimensional, funny, or likeable. Senior Skip Day is just a complete disaster.

Though the movie is horrible, audiences will be spared any annoying extras. I doubt any gag reels or outtakes would enhance the humor of this DVD. And who would want to hear commentary on this movie? Good call on not including extras.
