Ice Age (2002) Synopsis:

Ice Age (2002) DVD Review:

Heading south to avoid a bad case of global frostbite, a group of migrating misfit, Sid (Leguizamo), Manny (Romano) and Diego (Leary), embark on a hilarious quest to reunite a human baby with his tribe. Welcome to the prehistoric world of ICE AGE, a smart, character-based comedy and all-digital animated feature film from Twentieth Century Fox Animation and Academy Award-winning director Chris Wedge.

Ice Age is family entertainment at its finest. This is such a wonderful family film. Kids and adults will absolutely fall in love with this film. The film provides plenty of laughs, heart-touching drama and thrills. As a whole Ice Age was a charming and clever piece that offers a consistently entertaining program largely due to the performance of its animated stars.

The Video

Ice Age appears in an aspect ratio of 1.85:1 on this single-sided, dual-layered DVD. The film has been enhanced for 16X9 televisions. Visually this film was extraordinary. Sharpness was immaculate. The movie remained crisp and detailed, and not a single instance of softness or fuzziness occurred. The image stayed detailed from start to finish. No signs of jagged edges or edge enhancement appeared.

The colors came across vivid and lively, and they appeared absolutely striking at all times. Black levels were deep and rich. Ultimately, Ice Age provided a tremendously clear and electrifying visual presentation that never fell short.

The Audio

Ice Age is presented in Dolby Digital 5.1 mix. The front spectrum offered very nice separation and presence for the music. Effects displayed reasonably proficient ambience; surround channels functioned in a similar manner. Rear speakers were active at the appropriate times during the film. Audio quality was solid. Dialogue consistently appeared normal and clear. Effects were clean and accurate; bass response seemed on target. Overall, I felt the soundtrack was perfectly acceptable for the film.
