Jason Tyrone Phillips a.k.a. Jadakiss is an American born rapper. He started performing at the young age of 12. Jadakiss began competing in freestyle competitions including the Jack the Rapper competition in Florida where he met some members of the future group of Ruff Ryders. At age 19, Jadakiss and his friends Styles P., Jamaal, and Sheek Louch formed the hip hop group LOX an acronym for Living Off eXperience.
The group was taken under the wing of famous rapper The Notorious B.I.G. After the death of Notorious B.I.G., Lox released the muli-platinum hit single “We’ll Always Love Big Poppa,” a tribute to the rapper. Shortly thereafter, Lox let Bad Boy Records. In 2001, Jadakiss released his first solo album, Kiss The Game Goodbye, which included the single Put Ya Hands up, a successful single, despite the poor critical reception, a reaction even shared by Jadakiss himself.
His second solo album, Kiss of Death was released in the summer of 2004, which met tremendous commercial and critical success. His sophomore album, considered much more personal, featured collaborations with artists Mariah Carrey, Styles P., Common and Nas. The Kiss of Death single “Why” reached number 11 on the Billboard 100 and eventually went platinum in sales.
Jadakiss Kiss of Death Tour 2005 is the DVD release of concert footage and bonus footage from Jadakiss’ tour from that year. The release is a two-disc DVD release. Disc one includes the Jadakiss Kiss of Tour concert at Kentish Town Forum in London England, originally performed on June 19, 2005. The first disc boasts over an hour of concert footage with performances that include “Put Ya Hands Up,” “Made You Look,” “Money, Power and Respect,” “U Make Me Wanna,” “We Gonna Make It,” “(It’s All About) The Benjamins,” “Kiss Ya Ass Goodbye,” and “Knock Yourself Out,” along with another sixteen performed songs. The first DVD also features an interview with Jadakiss and his biography.
Disc 2 features the Kiss of Death – The Whole Tour Movie that runs just under two hours and includes bonus concert footage filmed in Germany, also in June of 2005.
Both discs are presented in widescreen and feature a 5.1 stereo surround soundtrack. One of the most noteworthy aspects of the DVD release of Jadakiss Kiss of Death Tour 2005 is that it is completely region free and can therefore be played on any region DVD player internationally.
