Bone Eater (2008) Synopsis:

An ancient evil is unleashed when a burial ground is disrupted by a construction crew.

Bone Eater (2008) DVD Review:

When a greedy and overly ambitious developer ignores the wishes of a local Native American tribe, who claim that he is digging up an ancient burial ground, evil arises.

A construction crew, working through the night, mistakenly unearths the remains of what is assumed to be an ancient warrior chief. The rowdy and goal oriented job boss decides that the crew should press on, and orders that the bones are pick axed. Angered by this arrogance and interruption, the bones take the shape of an ancient Native American warrior.

Armed with a toxic breath that can disintegrate a human in seconds, a knife and swipe that can vaporize a person instantly this new enltity makes short order of the construction crew.

The next day, the local sheriff, Sheriff Evans (Bruce Boxleitner, Gods and Generals, Snakehead Terror) investigates the disappearance of this three-man crew, but not until after he picks up his teenaged daughter, in town to visit for the summer.

Meanwhile, an excavation team accidentally unearths another ancient Native American bone, summoning the bone eater, who once again wipes out another group of people.

Now the sheriff is suspicious of some sort of mischief in his town, but how can he defeat an ancient evil with so much power.

There are your typical Hollywood films, there are some films that resign themselves to simply being known as B movies, and then there is Bone Eater, which falls into the realm of F movie at best. The film lacks a great deal of the traditional pieces that are usually employed in the creation of a film, critical elements like acting and decent visual effects. The acting in Bone Eater is a pathetic example of line reading and over acting. However, this lack luster group of performances is immediately overshadowed by the absolutely horrible and laughable special effects used in the creation of the Indian chief.

Made up of bones to create all of the aspects of the warrior, including his traditional headdress and loin cloth causes the Native American entity to appear to have large protrusions sticking out of his head while being equipped with triple the genitalia of a normal person.

Bone Eater is yet another awful film to be released with outstanding and an enticing cover art, only to disappoint once the disc is placed into the player. It is possible, but highly doubtful that the film would have been better had the filmmakers allowed for it to earn an R rating but instead the film suffers further with its PG-13 rating.

The DVD release of Bone Eater includes the film, presented in widescreen, and not much more.
