Music From The Inside Out (2005) Synopsis:
Filmed over a period of five years on three continents as a unique collaboration between the filmmaker and the musicians of The Philadelphia Orchestra, "Music From the Inside Out" explores the mystery and magic of the musical experience. Groundbreaking in style and approach, the main character of this film is "music" itself. Incorporating an eccelectic blend of extraordinary musical works, including bluegrass, salsa, jazz, and world music – the film features one of the most eclectic and stirring soundtracks of any recent documentary. In a film that is both passionate and intimate, these musical performances are interwoven with the very personal stories of the musicians, each of which has at its core the struggle to find personal expression when one's profession requires performance as part of an ensemble. Ultimately, Anker breaks down the barriers that have long separated orchestra musicians and their audiences, and ultimately gets to the essence of the magic and the mystery of music itself.
