The Contender (2000) Synopsis:

A political thriller that takes us behind the scenes of Washington's political power plays. When the current Vice President dies, the President appoints Senator Laine Hanson as the first woman to hold the office. The selection process is met with opposition, particularly from a powerful adversary who will stop at nothing to discredit her.
