Headline: Scanners getting the remake treatment!

David Cronenberg's classic 80's flick Scanners is the next in line for Hollywood's latest trend of picking up underperforming (at the box office, not critically) flicks and churning out remake after remake.

Thankfully this time Jerry Bruckheimer and his Platinum Dunes hack merchants aren't involved. Instead Saw director Darren Lynn Bousman will helm with the script being handled by David Goyer.

Dimension will distribute, and Twisted Pictures will produce it for them.
