Gerard Butler has signed on to star as Snake Plissken in the upcoming remake of John Carpenter's classic Escape From New York.
The original that starred Kurt Russell followed Snake Plissken, the one-eyed convict who's charged with heading into the inescapable maximum security prison formerly known as Manhattan to liberate the U.S. president.
Neal Moritz is producing with Ken Nolan writing the script.
