Kate Hudson and Ken Watanabe look to have been signed up to star in A Dream of Red Mansions for Director Bruce Beresford. The script by Donald Martin is an epic romance set against the backdrop of the Chinese Revolution in 1949. Hudson plays an American photojournalist who falls for an idealistic revolutionary (Watanabe). Capitol Films are producing.
