Well maybe not Hari-Kiri, but possibly career suicide if he deoesn't change the name of this project from Hachiko: A Dog's Story to something, well a bit less crap!

He will star and produce the flick for Inferno Entertainment, whose Bill Johnson and Vicky Shigekuni Wong are producing.

Stephen P. Lindsay has written the script that will follow Gere as a college professor who takes in a dog he finds abandoned. Both man and hound find their lives changed forever as they form an unbreakable bond, and the film is based on the 1987 Japanese film Hachiko monogatari.
