Headline: Y: The Last Man finally going ahead!

This has been in development hell for YEARS now, but finally it looks like a film is going to be made out of one of the best comic book series of the last five years Y: The Last Man.

The story centers on a mysterious plague killing nearly all the world's male mammals overnight. A magician who's the only survivor among this group and his male pet monkey set out to find what may have wiped out the male chromosomes.

Well that's how it starts out, but its more a tale of the characters on the road finding out more about themselves and their friends and families. How they'll slim down the labyrinthine story is beyond me!

D.J. Caruso to direct and Carl Ellsworth will pen the script for New Line Cinema.

Chris Bender, JC Spink, Mason Novick and David Goyer will produce.

No word on who will star yet, but is Shia Labeouf ideal for this role. He's nearly the right age, starred in the makers big breakout hit Disturbia, can crack gags, bit of a goof off, and is hot property after Transformers. That's my guess, I guess we just wait and see now.
