Had to happen, and I'm genuinely surprised that this news didn't happen over a decade ago, but finally today news has broken that a movie will be made of the ultimate british loser/don';t give up type Eddie the Eagle Edwards!

Eddie "The Eagle" Edwards became a media sensation when he entered the 1988 Winter Olympics as the first representative from Great Britain in the Olympic category and came in last in both ski jump events. he captured the nations hearts, while giving everybody a huge laugh. He may have been crap, but he was our crap!

Steve Coogan will play "His story is a very British story, and he is a very British kind of hero," Coogan said. "When I read the story, I found it funny but, more surprisingly, quite moving. Quirky, dysfunctional, slightly nerdy, but his balls must be made of titanium."

Declan Lowney will direct, with Sean Macaulay writing from an original draft by Simon Kelton
