Brad Pitt looks to have been signed up to replace Matt Damon in The Fighter.

Damon had to drop out as the aim for this flick is to get it filmed before next years much rumored strike, and Damon's slate was already full.

Darren Aronovsky will direct with Pitt thought to be playing Dicky Eklund, Mickey Ward's (Mark Wahlberg) half-brother and a talented fighter who once went the distance with Sugar Ray Leonard in a title fight but then turned to crime and landed in prison. Then he turned his life around and helped his underperforming brother find the spark for a remarkable run that led to the world title.

The main thrust of the film follows Ward on his journey to become world lightweight champion.
