Transformers fans rejoice! The highly anticipated Transformers HD DVD release is upon us, and the results are stunning; this two-disc special edition is jam-packed with more than 10 hours of HD behind-the-scenes footage, interactive web-enabled features, and a customizable toolbar for viewing perfection. The goal of the HD DVD creator Jeff Radoycis was to generate a connectivity never before felt between the viewer, feature, and Paramount studios using extra features that are almost entirely Web-based.

Creator Jeff Radoycis calls the Transformers HD DVD, “One of the most robust, fully realized projects we’ve ever worked on,” and I would have to agree. It is simply the most crisp, magnificent visual clarity in a DVD production I have ever experienced, and it certainly is chocked full with stunning features.

Because they are downloaded and not streamed, the bonus features are set up to be the best quality possible, and are instantly downloaded when the viewer chooses to view them. Not only that, but the Web data is constantly being updated, and Paramount plans to add new features exclusively viewable by procurers of the HD DVD, be they owners or renters, for years to come. The trailers listed on the menu for upcoming movies will always be current, and should a cast member be in a film after Transformers, their biography will be updated as well. To make sure the downloaded data is the most up-to-date, the disc will automatically notify the viewer when newer downloads are available.
