Has Paramount Pictures finally found the right actor for the lead role in their long in gestation G.I. Joe flick.

Various rumours have had Mark Wahlberg, George Clooney as taking the lead, but the latest rumour has Sam Worthington signed up for the action role.

Now some of you may be saying Sam who? But rest assured this is one guy who you'll know soon enough as he'll be playing one of the main roles in Jim Cameron's currently shooting Avatar.

Stephen Sommers is directing the flick based on a script by Stuart Beattie with Paramount looking at a Summer 2009 release date.
