Headline: Guillermo del Toro to helm The Hobbit!

News reaches us today that Guillermo del Toro looks to be a dead cert to helm The Hobbit for New Line/MGM.
No word on who will write the screenplay, as that is all up in the air with the writers strike, but Guillermo del Toro has confirmed that he is in talks and is likely to make this his main project once the strike has ended.
He will work alongside Peter Jackson who will produce the flick with Del Toro and also oversee creative choices.
Filming has been pencilled in for 2009 with Part 1 to be released in 2010, and part 2 in 2011.
