Tim Allen has signed on to make his directorial debut on indie project Crazy on the Outside.

He will also co-star in the flick alongside Ray Liotta, Carrie-Anne Moss, Julie Bowen and Kelsey Grammer.

Written by Judd Pillot and John Peaslee, the adult-themed comedy stars Allen as a parolee who finds life outside a prison cell to be much crazier once he enters his quirky sister's world.

Filming starts this month in L.A.
