Christopher Plummer, Shirley Maclaine and Gregory Smith have been added to the cast of Richard Attenborough's Closing The Ring. The script by Peter Woodward will follow a WWII pilot who crashes near Belfast and asks the man who finds him to return his ring to his girlfriend in America. A man finds the ring half a century later, learns its history and tracks down the girlfriend. Smith will play the young Plummer role while Mischa Barton has been cast as the younger version of MacLaine's character. Also starring are Neve Campbell, Brenda Fricker and Pete Postlethwaite.
