Zhang Ziyi looks to have been signed up to star in a love action version of the classic Mulan tale.

The US distribution rights have been snapped up by The Weinstein Co. for their Meridian Pictures label. The script has been written by Wang Hui-ling and will draw on a Chinese folk tale of a female resistance fighter who disguises herself as her father to take his place in battle.
