Headline: Ridley Scott to make handbag movie?

Ridley Scott has signed on to direct a biopic based on the life of the Gucci family. The movie is being developed at Paramount Pictures by Scott's production co. Scott Free with Andrea Berloff handling the scriptwriting duties. Now while you may think a film about a firm that makes handbags may be utterly boring, hold on as there's a lot of dark secrets and murk in the Gucci clan history. Paolo Gucci almost sent his father, Aldo Gucci, to prison for tax fraud; Maurizio Gucci was murdered in 1995; and his widow, Patrizia Gucci, was convicted three years later of ordering his assassination. Sounds like The Guccifather to me?
