Philip Seymour Hoffman and Michelle Williams have been signed up for the lead roles in Charlie Kaufman's directorial debut Synecdoche. And yes I did check that title three times to see if it was correct! The script will follow an anguished playwright and several women in his life. Synecdoche is "a figure of speech in which the word for part of something is used to mean the whole."
