George Clooney looks to have inked on to star, direct and rewrite Leatherheads for Universal Pictures. Also thought to be starring is Renée Zellweger. The movie will be a romantic comedy set against the backdrop of pro american football's formation in the 1920s. Clooney is rewriting the script and will begin production in early spring. His Smoke House Productions partner Grant Heslov will produce with Casey Silver.
