Halle Berry has signed on to star in Class Act for DreamWorks Pictures.
The flick to be written and direct by Doug Atchison will be based on the real life tale of Tierney Cahill, a teacher from Reno, Nev., who took a challenge from her sixth-grade students to run for Congress in the 2000 elections on the condition that they would help run her campaign. The single mother ultimately lost her bid to an incumbent, but she ended up winning 35% of the popular vote.
But this isn't the really interesting part of the story. The real life Tierney Cahill is a different skin colour from Berry.
Thank god, for once hollywood has seen sense and hired an actor based on her acting ability rather than their skin colour. About time!
