Moms name is Bertye Kathleen(homemaker) Her great grandfather was Andrews Jacksons Docter. Kathy Bates graduated from White Station High School in Memphis. She moved to New York City in 1970 to pursue an acting career. Her most famous film was Misery. Bates was nominated Emmy Award seven times. Won an oscar for the lead role in Misery(1990). Currently played in The Day the Earth Stood Still(2008). Won 20 other awards but not major

Father, Langdon Doyle Bates, was a mechanical engineer. Mother Bertye Kathleen Bates died in 1997.
