New Bond

So I spent this last week watching all of the Bond Blu-ray releases, reminding me how much the series has shifted back and forth from realism to ridiculous. The later Brosnan films were so over-the-top that I knew to turn my brain off when entering the theater, and still ended up groaning, while Casino Royale shifted back towards the realistic, which seems to be the trend lately if you compare the new Batman films with the direction it was heading in previously. The real reason, however, that I am excited about the new film is the director, Marc Forster (Finding Neverland, Stay, Stranger Than Fiction, The Kite Runner) who may seem a strange choice, and the return of screenwriter Paul Haggis (Crash) who brought the realism back in the previous film. So, here's to Quantum of Solace and hoping it doesn't suck.
